Explanation of Personal Schedule for the Faculty of Arts
In Personal Schedule, you add the study programme, student group or course for which you are registered in Osiris. Your timetable is not linked to Osiris, which means that you will need to check to see if your chosen work group or student group in Personal Schedule matches the group for which you are registered in Osiris. The Student Information Desk will register the following students for a specific student group: first-year students from Arts and Culture Studies (ACW) and the Dutch Language and Culture (NTC) programme and all of the students from the full Bachelor’s programme and pre-Master’s programme of study for English Language and Culture (ETC) and Communication and Information Studies (CIW). You will receive an email about the student group for which you have been registered. You will then need to select this group in Personal Schedule; this will give you all of the right work groups for your courses.
Below you will find a more detailed explanation of the three ways in which a timetable can be added: by course, student group or study programme.
Course
You can search by course, for example, if you wish to add a single elective or course to your timetable. For this purpose, select ‘Course’ in ‘Add timetables’. Once you are here, you can search by course title or course code.
Student group
A student group contains all of the lectures that are attended by a particular group of students, such as second-year students from the Bachelor of English. These groups are also used as registration groups for the compulsory and optional courses in a study programme, such as English/American Studies or Communication and Information Studies/International Business Communication study programmes and the first-year students from Arts and Culture Studies (ACW) and the Dutch Language and Culture (NTC) study programme. It is possible to find your timetable by using student groups. Please note that electives are not always listed under a student group. Also, if you change work groups in Osiris, the group’s timetable may no longer match the lectures for which you are registered in Osiris (when compared to the student group’s standard timetable). In this case you will need to untick the individual course within your student group and add it to your Personal Schedule. This can be done by clicking on ‘Course’ in ‘Add schedule’ so that you can select the correct work groups.
Study programme
A study programme usually provides an overview of one year of a particular course of study, such as B2 or the second year of the Bachelor of English study programme. This subsequently shows you all of the activities for the courses that are offered within a study year, including the electives. This study programme may then include work groups that are not meant for you, but are meant for other students who are taking the same course within another study programme. This means that you will often need to filter out the activities in the study programme that only apply to you. Check in Osiris to see the work group for which you are registered for each course. Then apply a filter for the appropriate work groups in your Personal Schedule. Untick all of the courses or elective courses for which you are not registered in Osiris in your Personal Schedule.
